Currently sixty students and ten staff occupy the main building - St. Joseph's Hall - for all aspects of school life -- dormitory rooms, classrooms, dining and recreation areas. The excellent and dedicated faculty share two 10'x10' offices, with no place to privately tutor students or prepare for classes. The library is about half the space which we need to house the volumes we already possess and what we hope to acquire over time.
More importantly, the heart of our campus and home or Our Eucharistic King, the beautiful Romanesque chapel has been thoroughly cleaned, but remains in the basic condition of its unoccupied years: cracks, peeling plaster, fading paint, warped wood, and broken pews. The striking stained glass that was custom made for the chapel is universally praised by all but in need of many thousands of dollars in repair to safeguard this irreplaceable treasure.
Although the enquiries for applications increase each year, we simply cannot increase our enrollment until we can liberate the space in St. Joseph's Hall for strictly living areas to adequately house both students and additional staff. In order to alleviate the overcrowded conditions, plans are underway to build a separate academic facility with both large and small classrooms, faculty work space, administrative offices and a large library. The plans are simple and straightforward. Our needs are both simple and basic.
